Paediatric 12 Hour (2 day) First Aid Training (Early Years)
This Meditec Training paediatric first aid course meets the requirements of the Early Years foundation stage statutory framework. It is for people working with younger children - those up to eight years old. The syllabus focuses on emergency scenarios that are faced by professionals, including teachers, au pairs, playgroup leaders and nursery nurses looking after young children.
It meets Ofsted requirements for registered child minders and the requirements for nannies under the Approved Carers Scheme.
This course covers how to deal with accidents and emergencies involving young children.
Course Syllabus:
- First Aid Kit.
- Action Planning.
- Treatment of an unconscious casualty.
- Resuscitation.
- Choking.
- Asthma and diabetic emergencies.
- Head injuries.
- Seizures.
- Bleeding.
- Burn.s
- Sprains, strains and fractures.
- Poisoning, bites and stings.
- Foreign objects
- Childhood conditions (e.g. measles, meningitis, croup)
Course Duration
12 hours (over 2-6 days)
Assessment and Certification
On completion of this course, all delegates will be able to confidently demonstrate all areas of this courses syllabus. Throughout the course our instructors will use simulated incidents using resuscitation manikins. All candidates will be issued with a certificate of attendance upon successful completion of this course. There is a formal examination at the end of the course; however the instructor will also provide continuous assessment throughout the course. The certification of this course is valid for three years, however to maintain knowledge Meditec Training highly recommend taking an annual or even bi-annual 3 hour basic first aid refresher.
